When I wrote the original homepage copy, I included a single sentence that captures the entire product: I sleep. The site runs. This article explains the story behind that sentence and how website monitoring in Jede actually works.
What Jede actually does
The core promise is simple: you don't have to check your site manually. Jede opens it on a schedule—not as a simple server ping, but in a real browser, exactly like an actual visitor—to check if anything broke. A missing image, a page that fails to render, a broken contact form, or an issue only visible by opening the developer console.
When something fails, you receive an alert written in plain language. Instead of "TypeError on line 482," you see what broke, where it happened, and how severe it is. The technical details remain accessible inside the report so you can copy and send them directly to your developer with a single click.
Having co-owned a small business for ten years, I know what a site owner's daily routine looks like: time is tight, the task list always outnumbers the hours, and the website ends up at the bottom of the priority list—even as the business grows increasingly dependent on it.
Without a tool like Jede, a business owner is left at a disadvantage. When something breaks, they rely on a webmaster or an agency—someone who understands the technical side, but may not share the owner's sense of urgency for that specific site. This creates a four-step chain: a visitor complains that the site is down, the owner asks the webmaster what to do, the webmaster verifies and translates the issue into a technical brief, and only then does it reach the developer for a fix.
Jede cuts that chain down to two steps: the site owner sees exactly what needs fixing and forwards it straight to the developer. Much like running a brick-and-mortar shop—the owner cares the most about keeping the doors open, while hired staff rotate and have different priorities. Jede puts clarity and control back into the hands of the person with the biggest stake in the business.
Under the hood
A real browser, not a basic ping: Jede opens every monitored page just like a real user and inspects what happens during the load cycle, rather than simply checking if the server responded.
- Catches hidden functional breakages: ede remembers the approved baseline of key pages—contact forms, submit buttons, and primary links with their destinations. If an element disappears, becomes unclickable, or changes destination, you get an alert even if the page returns no HTTP errors.
- Smart error deduplication When the same error appears across multiple pages, Jede groups it into a single finding rather than flooding your inbox. You are only alerted about new issues—not re-notified about conditions you already know about.
- Mute non-critical alerts If a missing decorative asset doesn't affect your visitors, hit Ignore with one click. Jede continues tracking it internally, but stops sending alerts and removes it from the site's error status. You can unmute it at any time.
- Submits contact forms end-to-end: Jede fills out and submits a clearly labeled test message, verifying that the submission confirmation actually triggers. If a form is protected by a CAPTCHA, Jede never attempts to bypass it—it transparently flags it as an automated limitation rather than a site failure.
- Distinguishes bot defenses from site failures: Security layers like Cloudflare occasionally challenge legitimate browser sessions. Jede detects these bot protection screens and reports them separately, preventing false downtime alarms.
Built for site owners and developers alike
Every finding includes both an easy-to-read summary and full technical logs—plain language for the owner, actionable code details for the developer. The Explain to Developer button instantly formats a concise technical brief ready for handoff.
You can also invite collaborators to a single account. A site owner can invite their agency or freelance developer directly; an agency can invite clients to view their site health dashboards. Developers managing multiple client accounts can switch between them with a single login—no separate credentials required.
Pricing and value
You pay strictly for scans, not features or website limits. Every Jede capability—structural change monitoring, form testing, bot challenge detection, error grouping, and email alerts—is included from the entry-level plan. Pricing tiers differ only by monthly check volume, scaling from 100 up to 10,000 checks per month. Adding an extra site costs nothing extra—you simply distribute your monthly check quota as needed.
Your actual check consumption depends on how many specific pages (URLs) you track and how often you run scans. Jede calculates usage straightforwardly: selected pages multiplied by 30 for daily checks, or multiplied by 4 for weekly checks.
- Small business (1 website): Tracking 3 core pages (Homepage, Contact, Pricing) daily = 3 × 30 = 90 checks/month. Fits within the basic plan.
- Freelancer / boutique agency: 3 client sites with 5 tracked pages each, checked daily = 15 × 30 = 450 checks/month.
- Full-service agency: 40 client sites with an average of 8 tracked pages each, checked daily = 320 × 30 = 9,600 checks/month—with the exact same feature set and a higher check quota.
You can also balance frequency flexibly: a 100-check quota covers 3 pages daily (3 × 30 = 90) or 25 pages weekly (25 × 4 = 100).
A single page check works out to approximately 1 CZK. That single check covers opening the page in a real browser, monitoring developer console errors and background network requests, verifying DOM structural integrity, and running real form submissions on key pages. In comparison, simple uptime monitors that only ping server response codes often charge $1 to $5 monthly per URL without inspecting page contents. Daily browser-level audits in Jede cost a similar amount while providing complete visibility.
Try it on your website
All of this runs quietly in the background while you focus on your work. Add your first website and let Jede handle the checks you shouldn't have to do manually.
